Awareness Programme on Measures for Prevention, Care, Rehabilitation and Access to Justice for Acid Attack Survivors Date: 8 September 2026 Venue: Demow College Organized by: Women Cell in collaboration with IQAC, Demow College Demow College organized an awareness programme on “Measures for Prevention, Care, Rehabilitation and Access to Justice for Acid Attack Survivors” on 8 September 2026. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the serious physical, psychological, social, and legal consequences of acid attacks and the challenges faced by survivors. The programme emphasized that acid violence is a grave violation of human dignity and human rights. It highlighted the importance of prevention, timely medical care, long-term rehabilitation, social support, and access to justice for survivors. The need for greater awareness and sensitivity towards survivors was also discussed. Dr. Wakidur Rohman, Coordinator, IQAC, addressed the gathering and spoke on various issues related to the theme. Drawing from incidents and situations that occur in and around our society, he discussed the risks faced by young people, including sexual violence, acid attacks, and other forms of abuse. He encouraged the students to remain alert and aware of their surroundings and to speak up whenever they feel unsafe. Dr. Rohman also emphasized the importance of knowing emergency and helpline numbers and encouraged students to seek help without hesitation when faced with any threatening or uncomfortable situation. His address focused on the importance of awareness, timely action, and supporting one another in creating a safer and more responsible society. The programme concluded with a message that awareness and timely intervention can play an important role in preventing violence and ensuring support, dignity, and justice for those affected.
